I got lucky about 5:00 P.M. on November 25, 1998 when
I heard this buck coming off the hill behind me. I was sitting in my favorite
ground blind just before dark. The buck crossed the road behind me and angled
through the open field toward me. At about 15 yards I fired a Muzzy 125 grain
broadhead from my Excalibur Exocet crossbow. I made a good shot and watched the
deer run three hundred yards through the open hayfield before he entered the
woods. It got dark quickly and James and I were unable to locate the deer that
night. I was in the woods at daybreak after a sleepless night of second
guessing my shot, I found this dandy ten point on the ground just thirty yards
from where we had halted the previous night's search. You can bet I'll be back
in that blind again in 1999!!!!!!
